Busboys & Poets
Type: Coffeeshop / Cafe Hours:
This coffeeshop caters to the activist crowd. Each night, the cafe has something interesting going on like a free film, open mic, etc. Just check the night for what is going on. The Wireless connection is dependable, however, you have to sign up to use it (free to sign up). My main issue with this place (which is quite a serious one) is that they really push you to buy throughout the day if you are there for more than an hour. Their set up is that you have to be seated, and then you are "waited on" so you can't just go there and just chill out for an hour or two like you can in coffeehouses in places like Houston. Apparently, my green tea wasn't cutting it so they kept hounding me if I needed anything else. I bought a pizza and they still came back every 20 minutes. Ridiculous.

I Avoid Busboys & Poets
What the writer describes is 100% correct - Busboys & Poets IS NOT the place to go if you want to work on your laptop or read undisturbed. The waitstaff hound you to purchase something. They might as well post a sign that says you must buy a minimum of $XX worth of food instead of fronting that they are chill-friendly. It's not a true Cafe in that sense - it's a restaurant that happens to have wifi.

Good location, wireless works.
This place has lots of outlets (e.g. on the underside of my table, I found out while leaving). There is a small bookshop incorporated in the cafe. There is a 1GB cap on transfer per 24 hours (shouldn't be a problem). I didn't have the problem of being hassled to buy anything, though it was a busy day and they seemed slightly understaffed. Overall good experience, if you can handle the chic level of the clientele.

Bb&P doesn't hassle you.
Don't know where this person came up with the idea that you're forced to buy stuff at Busboys. I go there sporadically and while the waiters stop by from time to time they're just doing what they're paid to do. You'd be pretty miffed if you hanked for espresso and nobody could be found, eh?
