So here I sit in Starbucks drinking a Pumpkin Spice Latte (with 2 pumps of cimminon (yes, I know I misspelled it)... and using Borders connection... this is gonna hurt T-Mobile which is the provider for Starbuck. Yes, there are plugs to be had... at least in Starbucks.

OK, so there I was thinking "Man, this is gonna turn out to be yet another T-Mobile dead spot"... BUT, lo and behold I was online... for FREE !!! why, you might ask ?? becuz of Koi Kawa's free Wifi connection... which can be picked up over at Border's without a problem. Well, there is 1 problem... lack of plugs... only 3 in the entire cafe... and unless you get there early you ain't getting one... BUT, if you have a really good battery you can hang out for a couple of hours. I had a solid 4 bar signal.

This library was remodeled recently with wifi installed. The connection is really good. OK, great place... live music stage, great coffee, easy atmosphere, art on the walls... only problem I can see... NO PLUGS !!! Hip furniture, relaxed place... great staff... but the no plugs thing is a big issue for some... I came in with 50% battery life and will only be able to hang out for 1 hour and 40 minutes before I need to recharge... some are not as lucky. I see ptential in this place if they installed a strip along the windows where pholks could plug in... they have only been open for 7 months so we'll give them a chance to get the plugs installed. conveniently located on and near several VIA bus stops... this looks to be a good place to hang out, listen to the variety of music they have playing, dring coffee and smurf the Internet. Just remember to fully charge up before coming.

This branch library is close to Live Oak. I used it today. It is a little slow, but the signal reaches all the way to the parking lot. You don't have to have a library card or password to use it. Contemporary cafe. Delicious Sandwiches, salads, and bakery items that are not made on site, and aren't so great. REALLY fabulous espresso, cappucino, and lattes. The regular coffee is so-so and uses different coffee beans than that of the espresso. Parking is a challenge downtown and costly so it's a good cafe if you have business downtown. I pick up free wifi from a source nearby but it is not provided by SIP. Plugs are no problem, but their early closing hours are. Wayport Wireless has this hotel sewn up; wifi is free when you become a Wyndham Hotels ByRequest member (free, a promo to book directly with them). The catch? When you log on, the "connect now" is ONLY a clickable button if you're using IE. Bad faith and bad cess to the ISP: Wayport. We'll be elsewhere next time.

I was over at Ride Away Bikes and noticed that Steak Escape right next door had a HUGE banner saying FREE WIRELESS INTERNET... so I went in. Not bad... fast, free and the food is semi tasty... it's fast food IMO... but the fries are awesome !!!

Just like it says: a bar on Broadway. Big, rambunctious, with occasional mariachi-style live music, they also have free wi-fi. Additional tip: if you're doing laundry at the E-Z Wash across the street, you can pick up the Bar On Broadway signal easily.
The Farmer's Market

The Farmer's Market is supposed to have access, but I've never seen anyone using it. I wouldn't think locals would setup shop inside the touristy shops. Very hard to believe the the eighth largest city in the U.S. has so little access. Very sad when you look at Austin. In Austin, even the Starbuck's wireless is free.
