Boma Cafe
Type: Coffeeshop / Cafe Hours: 7am-8pm Sun-Thu : 7am-9pm Fri Sat
Shares space with upscale Afrocentric gift shop (spa and art gallery) with adjacent cafe in the heart of Harlem. Staff are friendly, usually youngish: Music is urban and welcoming. Pastery selection varies daily including the house specialty Boma Creme Cake, an excellent Sweet Potato muffin and a preserved-filled "Tanzanian muffin" and others. There are also tasty sandwiches and salads and a full menu of coffee drinks as well as African wines and beers! Lovely environment, beautiful french doors (open during nice weather) allow lots of natural light and street watching. In the big, comfortable wicker chairs, it feels like surfin the net in your own island getaway. Check local flyers for info on cultural happenings, many of which take place right there at the cafe.
