This place ** WAS ** Great
Yeah, the place * was * pretty chill. Good food, coffee and a reliable connection. I say "was" because Cafe Ari is closed, closed, closed. And I don't think they closed to renovate or anything. More than likely, they just lost their lease and that was that. Too bad... it was a great location, right next to Go Sushi off of 6th Ave and 8th Street.

great place
Ive been coming here for a year and a half and i love it. The coffee is good, the wifi is free with purchase, and the staff is friendly. The guy behind the counter is a local artist who works as a barista to pay rent. Baristas, bartenders, and waiters survive on their tips. Let me guess, jack and anon, youve never worked in the food industry before? tipping is everything...its probably less about misogyny and more about your own frugality.

They Kick you out if you don't buy something
Despite he assuming appearance of a free wireless cafe since every one there has a lap top, some staff members are cools while there is one surfer dude looking guy watches people and keeps track of how long they sit there...then he asks you to buy something (even if you did a few hours prior) and kicks you out. I guess he also has the helper there help him spy on people when clean up your table really fast when your coffee looks like its done. then the game begins.

Great place
I love this place (and the Spanish tuna melt is indeed v tasty). The counterfolk (of whatever gender[s]) have always been really nice to me (female). It does get crowded sometimes--there have been a couple of occasions where I've come and left because there was nowhere to sit.

Almost perfect
Agreed that it's a great place, except for the clearly misogynist guy behind the counter. Surly to women, very nice to men. But great food, great vibe, if you don't mind His Rudeness.

YES! This place is FABULOUS!
Cafe Ari' has amazing employees and a kind owner, who even gave me an umbrella on one particular rainy day. You can sit for hours and hours and it's like being at home. The prices are prime, the people who go there are diverse and fun. This is a groovy place. HIGHLY recommend it!

great cafe
i go here all the time, it seats a lot more people than most cafes. always able to get a seat, except certain times when it's raining. a clean well-lit place to connect and get online. the food is also reasonably priced and decent.

Great place!
I'm sitting in Ari now - first time I've been in and I love it. Very mellow, friendly staff, and the people working/drinking here are friendly too. I'll definitely make this a new 'home'.

MMMM Cafe Ari
I like this place. Its not everyday that you find a place in NYC that you can linger in for hours at a time and not feel the pressure to leave. Can get crowded but thats just because the coffee is good!

This place SUCKS
I just went in and wanted to sit at a table with my computer but tables were full near outlets so I sat in a chair in front and read paper hoping somebody would get up. I wasn't there for 4 minutes when guy comes over and basically says you need to order something or get out. I shose get out and never come back again. I recommend everybody do the same!!!!!
