Not a bad place

Checked the place out the other day. Bring your own laptop and kick back. Not so good connection outside of shop but killer inside. They also have pop both coke and pespi. Staff is cool as well.

One free chair

There is free wifi if you can find the one chair that picks up the signal from the library across the street. But you'll have to fight me for it. :)

WRONG ADDRESS

THIS PLACE IS LOCATED AT 248 MERCER, NOT 118.

Free internet, if you don't mind being in a cafe with a bunch of dykes ;)

Panera Bread

Good location. Menu could use expansion.

Location has moved

Hello, The location has moved to 5600 West Lovers Lane, next to Cafe' Express. Please visit the new location!

No longer FREE

Now it's no longer FREE in public . You must use your cc# to obtain the connection. It cost around 3-5USD /hour

Space Monkey rocks

Space Monkey is a great place to sit, drink some great coffee, snack on yummy pastries and let the morning/afternoon float by.

A pleasant surprise

It's great to have this new addition to the neighborhood, and excellent coffee, delicious loose tea, terrific sandwiches, AND free wifi in walking distance of my house. The owners are friendly and everything I've tried is delicious. The free wifi is easy to use and reliable, making a great environment for working away from home or for meeting the neighbors.

they offer free wifi at all their locations but for mac's theres sometimes a connection problem. Happened about 2 times in about a 7month period though.

Impressive

Very nice and has a warm atmosphere. My experience is quite the opposite of the first commentator; they were nothing if not all smiles. I sit and do day-trading all day long. I don't expect to just sit there and occupy a seat for free; this is a business, for crying out loud! I tried several other WiFi spots, some are better than others, but this one has very good service, relaxing music (this is very important to me) and beverages of a nice wide range. I am sort of new to the place and I have not tried the food yet, but from the incredible smells that permeate, I can only imagine how good it tastes. Finally, they have nice, soft, and cushiony chairs that don't break one's back.

Hot Spot is Cold

Tried to connect at Central Market many times. Once got a signal so low it could not be accessed. Every other time nothing. Central Market management says they don't have a link because they are already too crowded and don't want people sitting around.

out of business

they folded a few months ago.

Packed House

This place gets packed in a hurry. Students from Loyola, NW, business law and medical school. If you don't mind the dorm room vibe-check it out.

this is simply fantastic to have free hotspots in miami. at least we are not in

our roadways may be very congested during peak hours, & our public bus systems jokingly running regularly on a late schedule, but at least we have free Wifi to lessen these misery. right on dude !!!

Nice place to take a date too!

Nice place to take a date too! Great food and friendly service, would recommend to anyone.

Their empanadas are great, and it had a really warm cozy atmosphere on a wet. Much less pretentious than JP's and there was plenty of parking out front too!

Shakespeare No longer in business.

aldine library

Internet access for non library pcs/laptop is almost never up. The librarians are preety much clueless about the access. The one time I was able to connect using my laptop was when I got fed up and reset the router myself. That combined with the hood rats that hang out there makes it a miserable experience. The only reason I would go back is to check out the Anita, one of the libarians.

Comfortable, small town atmosphere. Great coffee and a life time worth of sugar. Charge your batterie before you go and endulge.

in love

I love this place. This place certainly has different feel about it. I see things here that I have only seen in TV sitcoms. For example the regulars always sit at the bar and talk about everything (I mean personal) stuff. As people walk in they are greeted by name and are somehow sucked in to the conversation. and perhaps the most interesting thing is that the customers actually enjoy doing things for the store, while I was there 2 customer (both professors) without hesitation helped the employee with his closing duties. Very inviting place no wonder their customers are so protective of them. Also the first time I was there I thought the place was 24 hrs so I stayed way past their 2:00 am closing time but the guy was so polite that not once did he ask me to leave instead he waited until I was finished. Needles to say I was very embarrassed the next day when I saw their posted hours.

WTF

WTF, this place is a crime, no internet connection rude staff and whatís with all the stains on the furniture. I think the only reason this place is busy is because of its location, I hate to say it but if there is any corner that needs a Starbucks its this one.

great!

if ur on this side of town this place is a great support your indie local coffee spot hang to work on the net. good coffee, good folks - reliable access to net.

Community Place to Hang

I just want to say something about "babbling" as it was put my another commenter. Since Joe's opened it's brought about a great community of people who all enjoy talking and sharing. Everyone is very open and accepting of others and this is one of the few places in Austin where a genuine community is being developed. Thus, if you work from home, need a break, or have some free time come join us and say Hi, meet some of us who regularly hang out there at Joe's. We all own our businesses and use Joe's as an office. The synergy that's being developed there is incredible. You never know what the discussions may be about - spiritualism, business development, books, poetry, music, or anything else you care to talk about. I'll see ya'll there!

Arturo's is great

I'm at Arturo's right now and it's great! There's power and tables and good chairs. The music is right and it's not freezing inside (it's December so that's a good thing)

Favorite writing spot

This place has become my favorite place to write. Lots of tables, yummy beverages and unpretentious atmosphere make it the perfect place to study, write, or hang out. It could use more outlets but as long as a laptop has a battery it works just as well.

Science and Industry library branch at Madison & 34th

Downstairs there's some stalls with highspeed ethernet hookup (not wireless). The chairs are comfortable and the desk space is adequate but hours are limited: http://www.nypl.org/research/hours/siblhours.htm. Comeon, Mayor Mike, open the libraries 7 days a week again, please...

GREAT connection and atmosphere

Relaxing and peaceful - this place has fantastic food and they're doing good things for our neighborhood. WiFi connection is the best I've had in Austin so far - plenty of light - great place to work!

Uncommon place

This is a wonderful neighborhood coffee house. Wonderful atmosphere, friendly staff, nice music, plenty of hook-ups. They also offer live music on Friday and Saturday nights. I highly recommend it.

out of business

closed

Not enough power plugs

Internet access reliable - but don't count on working too long- there are no power plugs - not any that I could see!

OOPS, I fucked up.... this spot is in San Antonio

Disregard this hotspot... I was meaning to post it in San Antonio

WOW

WOW, Iíve found my new favorite coffee shop in Austin. Aside from the good drinks and food the servers are so damn nice and polite that it almost made me feel I wasnít in Austin anymore. I think the owner himself actually brought my drink out to me. Amazing, definitely a pleasant change from the rest of the independent shops in Austin.

new fav coffeehouse

Tons of outlets makes it awesome for those w/laptops. Nice laid back atmosphere with friendly people. Recommend the breakfast tacos. Parking is a bit tough so try to get there a bit early if you can.

I donít think Coyote Ugly has WiFi. I could be wrong, but a friend with a WiFi-enabled PDA was not able to get a SSID in there.

ever heard of Google?

jesus christ! how could someone be in the dark on where ground kontrol is for more than the 2 seconds it takes to type "Ground Kontrol" into Google. I mean, you managed to find this site and leave a comment, and yet the above escaped you.

Forgot to Mention...

Aniki is 21 and over only and has 6 power outlets for the mobile warrior.

Not reliable

I went there and the wi-fi was out. Staff was clueless. One laughed and told me sometimes it's down for a week or more. They don't seem to understand that some of us are choosing to go there just because of the free wi-fi. Not going back until they get their act together.
