Austin Public Library (Central)
Type: Library Hours: Mon-Thu 10 am-9 pm, Fri-Sat 10 am-6 pm, Sun 12 noon-6 pm
All locations offer wireless access. Have found the 2nd & 3rd floors of the Central (Faulk - downtown) location to have best reception. Good speeds, but you may find yourself needing to logon every 30-60 minutes. Logon requires IE5+ compatible, but can then browse with any client. Call(512) 974-7400 for more info. Only a few libraries have wireless so far
Only a few locations have the wireless, despite what the little flier put out by the library says. I think that they must have jumped the gun on publishing the flier. You should call to see if they have wireless. Also, the 3 libraries at which I've used wireless all have the same glitches, with the service often "resetting" itself and forcing you to log in again. Also, sometimes they're extremely fast and other times extremely slow, unlike the reliable Schlotzsky's locations.
